Rocket Math

For the past month, the Bartin Bunch has been busy learning our math facts using a program called Rocket Math. Each day, our students take a 1-minute timed test on their basic facts.

To begin the Rocket Math program, students took two different pre-assessments. The first one assessed how quickly they could write their numbers. This helped to set their daily facts goal. The second assessment was an addition facts test that helped me know where students should begin (addition or subtraction).

After a few days, students got very good at following the Rocket Math routine. Students find the test at their level. They get to practice for a few minutes, and then they take the timed test. Students then correct their partner's paper, and report to me if they have met their goal.

This week several students have passed the Z test of their operation, which means they graduate from that operation. Those students have received a certificate, and get to move to level A of the next operation the following day.We are really improving on our math facts!

Zack takes his daily timed test.

Kira and Clayton show off their certificates.
